Three children back from boarding school, back to the estate in Sakleshpur. Our mother would make filter coffee before anyone else was awake. Beans from our own estate, brewed the way she always had. We were children. We thought everyone's kitchen smelled like this.
Coffee has been part of our family for three generations. In 1995, our father, Byramudi Ramachandra, established this estate in the hills of Sakleshpur. Today, our two estates, Balagod and Kanaguppe, grow Arabica and Robusta between 950 and 1,200 metres under silver oak shade, alongside pepper and arecanut.
Eventually, we each left and found our way back. Narthan, the eldest, spent years in real estate and continues to work in the field, while setting up Rasasvada, our homestay on the estate. He wanted people to be able to experience what we grew up around. Navaneeth came back from Singapore about ten years ago and went straight into the work alongside our father. He has been here since, learning every part of it. I'm Nupura, the youngest. I trained as a psychotherapist and still practice. I came back five years ago wanting one thing: to bring what we grow directly to you, on our own terms, under our own name.
For years our beans left as raw green coffee, finding their way into other blends. So we are building a roastery on the estate. For the first time, it all stays in our hands. Grown here, processed here, roasted here, sent to you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
